Old Boot, Salute

Old Boot (salute to Veterans)

I guarded your step many a mile,
Through mud, rain, cold, and snow.
Now,
My leather is scuffed and cracked.
My stitches lose hold of the seam.
My tread is worn smooth as silk and my sole paper thin.
Though I am a pitiful sight my condition merits your honor and not your scorn, for it was by you, that I was so worn.
