In my understanding the apex of the Biblical message is the verse "God is love." This does not mean God is safe. It is precisely because He does love us that He will allow temporal pain for eternal good. Indeed the call of Jesus was deny yourself, take up your cross, and follow him. Dare I surrender my will to another, even if He is Love?
When did you last pray the Lord's Prayer? Did you realize how dangerous a prayer it was? "Thy will be done" is a prayer that invites God to do His will in our lives. "Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive.." requests God to forgive us in the same manner we forgive others. A very dangerous prayer indeed.
